CIOP2020 Announces Technical Program Committee Co-Chairs

Optics Frontier-The 12th International Conference on Information Optics and Photonics (CIOP2020), which will be held on 27-30 July 2020, in Beijing, China, is honored to announce that Prof. Xi-Cheng Zhang from University of Rochester, Prof. Chao Lu from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Prof. Zhiyi Wei from Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences have been served as the Technical Program Committee Co-Chairs.

 

Prof. Xi-Cheng Zhang
University of Rochester, USA

Xi-Cheng Zhang – Parker Givens Chair of Optics, the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, USA. Dr. Zhang is a Fellow of AAAS, APS, IEEE, OSA, and SPIE. His honors and awards include: Alexander von Humboldt Prize ('18); Australia Academy of Science Selby Fellow ('17); IRMMW-THz Kenneth Button Prize ('14); OSA William F. Meggers Award ('12); IEEE Photonics Society William Streifer Scientific Achievement Award ('11); Rensselaer William H. Wiley 1866 Award ('09). He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Optics Letters ('14-'19).

 

Prof. Chao Lu
Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong, China

Prof. Chao Lu obtained his BEng in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University, China in 1985, and his MSc and PhD from University of Manchester in 1987 and 1990 respectively. He joined the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore as Lecturer in 1991 and has been an Associate Professor since January 1999. From June 2002 to December 2005, he was seconded to the Institute for Infocomm Research, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Singapore, as Program Director and Department Manager, helping to establish a research group in the area of optical communication and fibre devices. Since April 2006, he has been a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Information Engineering, Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research interests are optical communication systems and networks, fibre devices for optical communication and sensor systems.

 

Prof. Zhiyi Wei
Institute of Physics, CAS, China

Prof Zhiyi Wei obtained Ph.D degree in 1991 from the Xi’an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics, in 1988. After two years postdoctoral fellow at Sun Yat-Sen University in Guanzhou, China, he visited the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in UK, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, University of Groningen in the Netherland as a research scholar and post-doctor during 1993 to 1997. He joined in Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1997 and prompted as a full professor in 1999. From April 2000 to Sept 2002, he also worked at the Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) in Japan as a NEDO researcher. Up to now, he has published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers as co-authors. In view of his contributions on ultrafast laser technology, he won the Young Scientist Prize by CAS in 2001, the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars in 2002, Gangfu Hu Prize by the Chinese Physical Society in 2011. Presently he is the group leader and the director of Joint Laboratory of Advanced Technology in Measurements at Institute of Physics, CAS. He was elected as a fellow of the Optical Society of America in 2017.

 

CIOP, an annual conference with comprehensive topics on optics and photonics, was initiated in 2007 by Chinese Laser Press, Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The 11th CIOP, closed recently in Xi’an, China, attracted 1200 attendees from all over the world, including nearly 300 invited speakers. We look forward to meeting you Beijing 2020!
